At bekumoo, the question was how a complex controlling process, which is based on a heterogeneous database, can be completely digitized and used by stakeholders. In an initial workshop, key requirements and, derived from them, initial goals were defined. In the case of bekumoo, taod also provided business development consulting. The aim was product development based on application issues and available data sources and databases. Which data is available or is still required? How can these be used within SaaS to answer questions or for business management?
The SaaS is intended to incorporate and standardize data in very heterogeneous formats so that it can be visualized in reports at a later stage. The basis for uniform reporting is the respective inventory management system of car dealerships. Employees independently document their activities on an order-related basis and transmit the data on a daily basis. This raw data is then cleaned and transformed using TAOD's ELT integration.
One key challenge was authorization management: To secure access to sensitive personal data, taod relied on Row Level Security (RLS) in Power BI. Data access is controlled via defined roles and filters — team leaders see the key figures of their entire team, employees only see their own. This creates maximum transparency combined with a high level of data security.
Once there is a uniform database, the data is finally visualized and evaluated in Power BI. For bekumoo, Microsoft's BI tool is a logical choice, as the data is hosted via Microsoft Azure based on specific individual requirements. As a result, bekumoo software based on standardized data models, modern cloud hosting and automated Power BI connection has been in use since January 2021 for modern controlling of the car trade.
Since 2017, bekumoo has set itself the goal of sustainably digitizing automotive service and retail. The owner-managed company based in Ibbenbüren combines experts from the automotive trade with experts from software companies. With the SaaS solution developed by taod, bekumoo provides car dealerships with a tool that documents and evaluates the key business figures of car dealers. For this purpose, bekumoo is connected directly to the applications used in the company. The software helps to process complex data from individual branches in an understandable and timely manner. In service controlling, bekumoo provides important KPIs and, from querying various data sources, insights for decision makers in the areas of service and workshop.

Prior to the project, bekumoo had to standardize performance and controlling data from very different sources and transfer it into usable reporting. The data comes from inventory management systems at car dealerships, is documented there on an order-related basis and transmitted on a daily basis, but was initially available in heterogeneous formats.
taod developed a SaaS solution for bekumoo Software GmbH with standardized data models, modern cloud hosting via Microsoft Azure App Service and an automated Power BI connection. The solution was supplemented by ELT integration to clean and transform raw data as well as an authorization concept with row level security in Power BI.
The introduction began with a kick-off workshop and additional business development advice. The heterogeneous data sources were then explored, prepared and transformed, an authorization management system set up and the data was visualized in Power BI.
With the new solution, bekumoo has standardized data models and automated service controlling within its own software. The dashboards provide daily updated KPI reports, enable cross-location benchmarking in car dealership controlling and process data packages from 54 car dealerships.
